Picker Pals – Taking Action for Our Environment

At St Patrick's  National School, we are proud to take part in the Picker Pals initiative, a fantastic programme that encourages children to become active environmental stewards in their community. This hands-on project helps instil a sense of responsibility and care for the world around us in a fun and engaging way.

Picker Pals provides each participating class with a special Picker Pack, which contains all the equipment needed for a safe and enjoyable litter-picking adventure. Each week, one child takes the pack home, completing a litter-picking activity with their family before sharing their experience with their classmates. Through this approach, children develop a greater awareness of environmental issues and the impact that small actions can have in making a difference.

This initiative aligns with our school’s commitment to fostering a sense of citizenship and environmental awareness among our students. By actively engaging in litter-picking, children not only learn about waste and pollution but also take pride in keeping their community clean.

We look forward to seeing our pupils continue to embrace their roles as young environmental champions. Well done to all our Picker Pals ! You can read more about the initiative here :
