At our School, we are proud to participate in the Blue Star Programme, an educational initiative that encourages primary school pupils to learn about Europe and the European Union through engaging, cross-curricular activities.
The programme enables children to explore the history, geography, cultures, languages and institutions of the European Union while developing a greater understanding of how Europe influences our daily lives. Throughout the year, pupils take part in a wide range of activities across the curriculum, including art, music, drama, STEM, languages, history, geography and physical education. These experiences encourage creativity, teamwork, critical thinking and active citizenship.
Our annual Blue Star Showcase is the highlight of the programme, providing students with the opportunity to present their learning and celebrate their achievements with the wider school community.
In 2026, we were honoured to host the national launch of the Blue Star Programme for the 2026/2027 school year. We were delighted to welcome Minister for European Affairs Thomas Byrne, French Ambassador Céline Place, MEP Nina Carberry, Cllr. Helen Meyer, Cllr. Alan Tobin and our Board of Management Chairperson, Mr. Christopher Moore. Our guests spent time visiting each display and speaking with our students, who showcased their projects with great confidence, enthusiasm and knowledge.
We were also delighted to welcome representatives from European Movement Ireland, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Blue Star Team and many other organisations who support the programme. Their encouragement and interest made the occasion even more memorable for our students.
The success of the Showcase reflected the dedication and hard work of our pupils, the commitment of our staff and the continued support of our parents and wider school community. We are especially grateful to everyone who contributed to making the event such a wonderful celebration of learning.
We are proud to have received the Blue Star Programme Five-Year Achievement Award in recognition of our continued participation and commitment to promoting European awareness and active citizenship. This achievement reflects the enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork shown by our students year after year, and we look forward to continuing our Blue Star journey for many years to come.
